Peruvian Pasobilities Motto

Peruvian Pasobilities Mounted Drill Team is an all-Peruvian horse precision drill team based in Franklin, Tennessee. Its members have been gathering from Alabama and Tennessee to practice and perform, thrilling audiences across the southeast since 1996. The drill team offers a way for owners to promote the wonderful Peruvian horse and have fun at the same time.

The Peruvian is perfectly suited for performing, with its arrogant bearing, flashy front leg action, and full, flowing mane and tail. Owners are also finding out that the Peruvian's temperament is steady and willing - even eager - to perform, even under the most trying conditions.
Our rapidly growing group of men and women work hard to assemble the most unique, visually attractive, and entertaining equestrian drill team in the southeast. The Peruvian Pasobilities use top purebred Peruvian horses to demonstrate the inherent qualities that make them so well suited to the task of performing with a diverse group of equines in close quarters, in all types of situations and settings. The horses in the drill team were chosen for their beauty and grace, tractability, smoothness, and heart or "brio," all characteristics inherent in the Peruvian breed.
Attired in traditional silver-studded show saddles and headgear, magnificent Peruvian horses march in unison with their natural, high-stepping gait. This is entirely natural for the Peruvian - with no artificial training devices, the Peruvian horse always appears to be on parade, with its proud head carriage, smooth, flowing gait and flamboyant front leg action. (The forelegs swing out from the shoulder, much like the arm motions of a swimmer.)

The Peruvian's gait is a completely natural 4-beat paso that allows the rider a perfectly smooth ride with no vertical bounce — only a gentle side-to-side swaying motion. An elegant outward rolling motion of the forelegs (called "termino") is "icing on the cake," making the Peruvian instantly recognizable.
The Peruvian Pasobilities combine precision drill team maneuvers with exacting choreography to music, ranging from classics like Bizet's "Carmen" to the soundtrack from the movie, "The Mask of Zorro." The maneuvers include the Barrida of Champions, where the horses and riders line up abreast and appear to move as a line of marching horses, floating smoothly as one.
The Peruvian horses execute their gaits in unison, and the result is a beautiful dance with horse and rider performing as one, and with each maneuver flowing gracefully into the next.

In addition to exhibiting at parades, horse shows, and special events, the Peruvian Pasobilities have performed at the Volunteer Horse Fair in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where they won first place in Drill Team competition; the Alabama Horse Council's All-Breed Showcase; Equifest in Morristown, Tennessee, and Equitana USA. At Breyerfest in 2002 they won the Gaited Horse division of the drill team competition held during the festival. Part of the award given was an invitation to ride in the Pegasus Parade in Louisville during the Kentucky Derby celebration, which was a thrilling experience. The Peruvian Paso stallion was the Special Edition Breyer Horse unveiled at Breyerfest that year. In April of 2003 they exhibited at the Equine Affaire in Columbus, Ohio, North America's most prestigious equine event, where they were featured in the nighttime FANTASIA two nights before a capacity crowd of 5,000 people. They have participated in the Huntsville, Alabama, Christmas Parade and Franklin's Rodeo Parade. The Peruvian horses have been featured on Nashville Public Television's program, "Tennessee Crossroads" and Channel 4's "Backroads" with Terry Bulger.
